The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:42 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Brad Butt, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Phil McColeman and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Alexandre Boulerice for François Lapointe and Wladyslaw Lizon for Colin Mayes.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Workplace Institute: Barbara Jaworski, Chief Executive Officer. ThirdQuarter: Tim Jones, President and Chief Executive Officer, Skills Connect; Susan Barkman, Vice-President, Marketing and Communications, Skills Connect. Unemployed Help Centre: Patricia Katona, Case Management Supervisor, Windsor; June Muir, Chief Executive Officer, Windsor. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 18, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of opportunities for older persons in the workforce.
 

Barbara Jaworski by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario and Louis-Martin Parent made statements and, with Corinne Pohlmann, answered questions.

 

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:22 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Tim Jones and Susan Barkman by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, David Whitten and June Muir made statements and, with Patricia Katona, answered questions.

 

At 12:55 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:56 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Brad Butt moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Brad Butt, Joe Daniel, Kellie Leitch, Wladyslaw Lizon, Phil McColeman, Devinder Shory — 6; NAYS: Alexandre Boulerice, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Chris Charlton, Ryan Cleary, Rodger Cuzner — 5.

 

At 12:57 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:57 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
