The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Jean Crowder, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Carol Hughes, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Claude Patry, Manon Perreault and Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Sandra Gruescu, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

1. That, on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, the Committee meet to consider the draft report on the Federal Support Measures to Adoptive Parents study, started in the third session of the 40th Parliament.

2. That, on Thursday, November 24, 2011, the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and the Minister of Labour be invited to appear from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2011-2012; and that, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Committee resume its consideration of a draft report on Federal Support Measures to Adoptive Parents from the third session of the 40th Parliament.

3. That the Committee begin a study on skills development in remote rural communities to be titled, Skills Development in Remote Rural Communities in an Era of Fiscal Restraint, and that the Committee adopt the following work plan:

Tuesday, November 29, 2011:
- Human Resources and Skills Development officials
- Industry Canada officials
- Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development officials

Thursday, December 1, 2011:
- Canadian Chamber of Commerce
- Chamber’s major partners on study

Tuesday, December 6, 2011:
- Representatives from major resource sectors
- Community representatives

Thursday, December 8, 2011:
- Representatives from major resource sectors
- Community representatives

Tuesday, December 13, 2011:
- Drafting instructions for report
- Planning of future business

 

It was agreed, — That the report of the Subcommittee be concurred in.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
