The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Parm Gill, Dany Morin, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Djaouida Sellah, Joy Smith and Mark Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Ted Opitz for Wladyslaw Lizon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Raphaelle Deraspe, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 3, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of health promotion and disease prevention.
 

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a summary of evidence.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 3, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of chronic diseases related to aging.
 

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a summary of evidence.

 

It was agreed, — That the Analysts be tasked with preparing a draft report combining the study of chronic diseases related to aging and the study of health promotion and disease prevention.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to its study of neurological diseases, the Committtee report its findings to the House of Commons.

 

It was agreed, — That the evidence and documentation received by the Subcommittee on Neurological Disease during the second and third sessions of the 40th Parliament be deemed received by this Committee in the current session.

 

It was agreed, — That, starting on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, the Committee undertake a three (3) meeting study of Bill C-300, An Act respecting a Federal Framework for Suicide Prevention.

 

At 9:31 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
