The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Vice-Chair, the Hon. Judy Sgro, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Niki Ashton, Joyce Bateman, Joan Crockatt, Anne-Marie Day, Sana Hassainia, Roxanne James, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Isabelle Morin for Marie-Claude Morin, Bev Shipley for Stella Ambler and Mark Strahl for Tilly O'Neill Gordon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst; Erin Shaw, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Forces Provost Marshal: Tim Langlois, Legal Officer, Office of the Judge Advocate General, Directorate of Law, Military Justice Operations; J.A. Legere, Chief of Staff, Canadian Forces Military Police Group. Ontario Provincial Police: Chris D. Lewis.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 11:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:11 a.m., the sitting resumed in a public and televised session.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace.
 

J. A. Legere made a statement and answered questions.

 

Anne-Marie Day moved, — That the Committee undertake a study, following the current one, on the impacts of the Employment Insurance reform, implemented in the Spring of 2012, on women’s social and economic situations and particularly on immigrant women, aboriginal women, part-time workers and single parents.

 

Susan Truppe moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 4.

 

At 11:34 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:35 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 11:41 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:42 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 

The questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Chris D. Lewis made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
