The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Marie-Claude Morin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Niki Ashton, Joyce Bateman, Anne-Marie Day, Mylène Freeman, Marie-Claude Morin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Ed Holder for Roxanne James and Greg Kerr for Stella Ambler.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Femmes Équité Atlantique: Anne-Marie Gammon, President. First Nations University of Canada: Angelina Weenie, Department Head, Professional Programs.

 

At 3:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 3:52 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:20 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of improving economic prospects for Canadian girls.
 

Anne-Marie Gammon, by videoconference from Bathurst, New Brunswick, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:47 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Angelina Weenie, by videoconference from Regina, Saskatchewan, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
