The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Vice-Chair, the Hon. Judy Sgro, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Stella Ambler, Joyce Bateman, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Mylène Freeman, Roxanne James, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Tarik Brahmi for Irene Mathyssen and Ted Opitz for Tilly O'Neill Gordon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Susan Truppe moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 4.

 

At 3:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:31 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the appearance by the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, scheduled for Monday, April 23, 2012, be televised.

 

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding its routine motion and by unanimous consent, the Committee agree to give the witnesses from Status of Women Canada appearing on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 and on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 20 minutes for their opening statement, as opposed to the usual ten minutes for other witnesses.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed operational budget in the amount of $39,700.00, for the study of improving economic prospects for Canadian girls be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure meet on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to discuss committee business.

 

At 4:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
