The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 11:38 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Megan Anissa Leslie, Laurin Liu, James Lunney, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lise St-Denis, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Sean Casey for Kirsty Duncan and François Choquette for Bruce Hyer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tim Williams, Analyst; Penny Becklumb, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of the Environment: Robert McLean, Executive Director, Habitat and Ecosystem Conservation, Canadian Wildlife Service. Parks Canada Agency: Mike Wong, Executive Director, Ecological Integrity Branch. Department of Natural Resources: Ken Farr, Manager, Canadian Forest Service, Science Policy Relations, Science Policy Division. CropLife Canada: Peter MacLeod, Vice-President, Crop Protection Chemistry; Dennis Prouse, Vice-President, Government Affairs. As an individual: Christopher Majka, Research Associate, Nova Scotia Museum.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of invasive terrestrial species.
 

Robert McLean, Mike Wong and Ken Farr answered questions.

 

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Peter MacLeod and Christopher Majka, by videoconference from Halifax, Nova Scotia, made statements and, with Dennis Prouse, answered questions.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
