The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in a video recorded session at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Laurin Liu, James Lunney, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lise St-Denis, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Marc-André Morin for Megan Anissa Leslie.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of the Environment: Karen Dodds, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Technology Branch; Charles A. Lin, Director General, Atmospheric Science and Technology. Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Scott Vaughan, Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development; Bruce Sloan, Principal, Sustainable Development Strategies, Audits and Studies; Andrew Ferguson, Principal, Sustainable Development Strategies, Audits and Studies; James McKenzie, Principal, Sustainable Development Strategies, Audits and Studies.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 1, 2011, the Committee commenced its study of the plans for ozone monitoring initiatives.
 

Karen Dodds made a statement and, with Charles A. Lin, answered questions.

 

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 32(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the December 2011 Report of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
 

Scott Vaughan made a statement and, with Bruce Sloan, Andrew Ferguson and James McKenzie, answered questions.

 

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
