The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:50 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Chris Warkentin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Dennis Bevington, Ray Boughen, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain, Carol Hughes, Greg Rickford, Kyle Seeback, Chris Warkentin and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Blake Richards.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Analyst; Norah Kielland, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: Jennifer Stoddart, Privacy Commissioner of Canada; Patricia Kosseim, Senior General Counsel and Director General, Legal Services, Policy and Research.

 
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, June 21, 2012 and the motion agreed by the Committee on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-27, An Act to enhance the financial accountability and transparency of First Nations.
 

Jennifer Stoddart made a statement and, with Patricia Kosseim, answered questions.

 

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:54 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of Bill C-27, An Act to enhance the financial accountability and transparency of First Nations the Committee invite government officials to appear on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m .

 

It was agreed, — That, following the appearance of government officials, the Committee begin clause by clause consideration of Bill C-27, An Act to enhance the financial accountability and transparency of First Nations at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012; and, that, if necessary, clause by clause consideration of the Bill resume on Wednesday, November 7, 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That any proposed motions in amendment to Bill C-27, An Act to enhance the financial accountability and transparency of First Nations be submitted electronically in both official languages to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, November 2, 2012.

 

At 5:11 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
