The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development of Bill C-3, An Act to promote gender equity in Indian registration by responding to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia decision in McIvor v. Canada (Registrar of Indian and Northern Affairs).

Mr. Day (President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway) for Mr. Strahl (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians and Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency), seconded by Ms. Finley (Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development), moved, — That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Donnelly (New Westminster—Coquitlam), seconded by Mr. Davies (Vancouver Kingsway), Bill C-502, An Act to amend the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 (prohibition against oil tankers in Dixon Entrance, Hecate Strait and Queen Charlotte Sound), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
