The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Claude Guimond, Richard M. Harris, Russ Hiebert, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory and Alan Tonks.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages; Mohamed Zakzouk.

 

Witnesses: Aqua-Guard Spill Response Inc.: Ron Bowden, International Sales. Department of the Environment: Carl E. Brown, Emergencies Science and Technology Section. Department of Fisheries and Oceans: René Grenier, Canadian Coast Guard; Chantal Guenette, Environmental Response, Canadian Coast Guard. Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: Mimi Fortier, Northern Oil and Gas; Kerry Newkirk, Oil and Gas Management Directorate. Department of Natural Resources: Mark Corey, Energy Sector; Eric Landry, Frontir Lands Management Division, Petroleum Resources Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 6, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the status of the Emergency Response to Offshore Oil and Gas Drilling.
 

Ron Bowden, Carl E. Brown, René Grenier, Mimi Fortier and Mark Corey made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
