The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Rodger Cuzner, Claude DeBellefeuille, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Randy Hoback, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Guy Lauzon, Tom Lukiwski, Joe Preston and Scott Reid.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Ken Dryden for Marcel Proulx, Massimo Pacetti for Rodger Cuzner and Lise Zarac for Hon. Marlene Jennings.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nicolas Auclair, Analyst; Andre Barnes, Analyst; Michel Bédard, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Peter Milliken, Speaker of the House of Commons.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Audrey O'Brien, Clerk of the House of Commons; Rob R. Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 15, 2010, the Committee commenced its review of new technologies and their impact on House and committee proceedings.
 

Hon. Peter Milliken made a statement and, with Audrey O'Brien and Rob R. Walsh, answered questions.

 

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 12:18 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to discuss future business.

 
At 12:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
 

At 12:34 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in public.

 

It was agreed, — That members of the Committee discuss the issue of new technologies and their impact on proceedings in the House and committees with caucus colleagues and report back to the Committee.

 

At 12:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
