The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 8:55 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Vice-Chair, Yvon Godin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Steven Blaney, Sylvie Boucher, Royal Galipeau, Bernard Généreux, Yvon Godin, Jacques Gourde, Monique Guay, Guy Lauzon and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Scott Andrews for Brian Murphy, Claude Bachand for Richard Nadeau, Claude Gravelle for Yvon Godin and Pascal-Pierre Paillé for Richard Nadeau.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst; Nicolas Auclair, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Claire Dansereau, Deputy Minister; Mitch Bloom, Assistant Deputy Minister and Champion of Official Languages, Strategic Policy; Marc Grégoire, Commissioner, Canadian Coast Guard; Michaela Huard, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Corporate Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), the Committee resumed consideration of the 2009-2010 Annual Report (Volume II) of the Commissioner of Official Languages referred to the Committee on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
 

Claire Dansereau made a statement and, with Mitch Bloom, Marc Grégoire and Michaela Huard, answered questions.

 

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 10:07, Steven Blaney took the Chair.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study to follow up its report entitled The impact of approval and payment delays on department of Canadian Heritage recipient organizations (2nd Report, 40th Parliament, 2nd Session) to verify the efficiency of the government’s new measures of payment following the testimonies heard during its tour in the Canadian territories.

 

At 10:39 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
