The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 2:01 p.m. this day, in the Ballroom A, Delta Winnipeg Hotel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Chair, Ed Fast, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Joe Comartin, Bob Dechert, Ed Fast, Alexandra Mendes, Brian Murphy, Rick Norlock, Daniel Petit, Brent Rathgeber and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Monique Guay for Marc Lemay and Maria Mourani for Serge Ménard.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Robin MacKay, Analyst; Dominique Valiquet, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Border Services Agency: Kimberly Fussey, Inland Enforcement, Prairie Region. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Insp Robert Bazin, Border Integrity, D Division; Insp John Ferguson, Drugs and Integrated Organized Crime, D Division. Correctional Service of Canada: Robert Bonnefoy, Stony Mountain Institution; Christer McLauchlan, Stony Mountain Institution; Tim Van der Hoek, Preventive Security and Intelligence, National Headquarters. Saskatoon Police Service: Chief Clive Weighill. Winnipeg Police Service: Insp Jim Poole; Cst Nick Leone.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the state of organized crime.
 

Kimberly Fussey, Robert Bonnefoy, Christer McLauchlan, Insp John Ferguson, Insp Robert Bazin, Chief Clive Weighill, Insp Jim Poole made statements and, with Tim van der Hoek and Insp Nick Leone, answered questions.

 

At 4:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
