The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in a televised session at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Hon. Chair, Michael D.Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Brian Masse, Hon. Dan McTeague, Anthony Rota, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Denis Coderre for Hon. Dan McTeague, Bob Dechert for Gordon Brown and Carole Lavallée for Robert Bouchard.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst. House of Commons: Julie Lalande Prud'homme, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development: Dimitri Ypsilanti, Head, Information, Communications and Consumer Policy Division, Directorate on Science, Technology and Industry (Paris). Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission: Konrad W. von Finckenstein, Chairman; Len Katz, Vice-Chairman, Telecommunications; John H. Keogh, Senior General Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Foreign Ownership Rules and Regulations in the Telecommunications Sector.
 

Dimitri Ypsilanti made a statement and answered questions.

 

Konrad W. von Finckenstein made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
