The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bouchard, Peter Braid, Serge Cardin, Mike Lake, Hon. Dan McTeague, Anthony Rota, David Sweet, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Siobhan Coady for Marc Garneau, Bruce Stanton for Gordon Brown and Glenn Thibeault for Brian Masse.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Mark Mahabir, Analyst. House of Commons: Lucie Tardif-Carpentier, Legislative Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Bar Association: Tamra L. Thomson, Director, Legislation and Law Reform; Shuli Rodal, Vice-Chair, Legislation and Competition Policy Committee, Competition Law Section. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, June 14, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-452, An Act to amend the Competition Act (inquiry into industry sector).
 

Tamra L. Thomson, Shuli Rodal and Michael Janigan made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

 

Colette Downie and Rhona Einbinder-Miller answered questions.

 

The Chair called Clause 1.
