The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in a televised session at 8:00 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D.Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bouchard, Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Brian Masse, Hon. Dan McTeague, Anthony Rota, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Associate Members present: Sukh Dhaliwal and Carole Lavallée.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Tony Clement, Minister of Industry; Hon. Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Western Economic Diversification).

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Richard Dicerni, Deputy Minister; Paul Boothe, Senior Associate Deputy Minister; Johanne Bernard, Director General, Resource Planning and Investments Branch. Western Economic Diversification: Daniel Watson, Deputy Minister; Jim Saunderson, Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Management.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Foreign Ownership Rules and Regulations in the Telecommunications Sector.
 

Hon. Tony Clement made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 8:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:45 a.m., the sitting resumed.
