The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 10:31 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Kelly Block, Hon. Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage, Maurice Vellacott and Jeff Watson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Sandra Gruescu, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Alisha Bowie; Jon Daly; Lisa Davis; Miranda Eggertson.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the calendar be adopted and that the future business of the Committee be conducted as follows:

That the first hour of the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, 2011, be devoted to Committee business and that the second hour be held for the consideration of a draft report pertaining to the Committee’s study on the Impact of Cancelling the Long Form Census.

That the meetings of Thursday, March 3, 2011 and of Thursday March 10, 2011, be devoted to the Committee’s study on the procedures and practices of the Employment Insurance Board of Referees.

That the first hour of the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, 2011, be held to study Bill C-304, An Act to ensure secure, adequate, accessible and affordable housing for Canadians and that the second hour be devoted to the clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-481, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Canada Labour Code (mandatory retirement age).

That the meeting of Tuesday, March 22, 2011, be devoted to the appearance of the Minister of Humans Resources and Skills Development in accordance with the motion adopted by the Committee on February 8, 2011..

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 19,700, for the study of Bill C-481, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Canada Labour Code (mandatory retirement age) be adopted.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:04 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the Federal Support Measures to Adoptive Parents.
 

Miranda Eggertson, Lisa Davis, Alisha Bowie and John Daly made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:06 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the Analysts for the Report.

 

At 12:38 p.m., Raymonde Folco took the Chair.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
