The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Hon. Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage, Maurice Vellacott, Jeff Watson and Alice Wong.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Ken Dryden for Raymonde Folco.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst. House of Commons: Julie-Anne Macdonald, Committee Clerk.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 7, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of the impact of cancelling the long form census.
 

Aden Murphy, Rob Rainer, Monica Cullum and Rashmi Bhat made statements and, with Spencer Keys, answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Peggy Taillon, Katherine Scott, Cordell Neudorf, Michael Shapcott and Mélisa Ferreira made statements and, with Debra Lynkowski, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Tony Martin, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $7,500, for the study of the impact of cancelling the long form census be adopted.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
