The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:32 this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Acting Chair, Tim Uppal, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Megan Anissa Leslie, Luc Malo, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon and Tim Uppal.

Acting Members present: Niki Ashton for Megan Anissa Leslie, Kevin Lamoureux for Kirsty Duncan, Hon. Shawn Murphy for Ruby Dhalla, Daniel Paillé for Josée Beaudin and Bruce Stanton for Joy Smith.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst ; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

Witnesses: Dairy Farmers of Canada: Nathalie Savoie, Assistant Director, Nutrition, National Programs. Canadian Medical Association: Jeffrey Turnbull, President; Maura Ricketts, Director, Office of Public Health. Option consommateurs: François Décary-Gilardeau, Agrifood Analyst, Representation and Research Department; Anu Bose, Head, Ottawa Office. NUTRIUM: Nathalie Jobin, Dietitian, Extenso, Nutrition reference centre of Université de Montréal. Food and Consumer Products of Canada: Derek Nighbor, Senior Vice-President, Public and Regulatory Affairs, Public Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on healthy living.

Nathalie Savoie, Jeffrey Turnbull, François Décary-Gilardeau, Anu Bose, Nathalie Jobin and Derek Nighbor made statements and, with Maura Ricketts, answered questions.

At 5:15 , the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
