The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Luc Malo, Cathy McLeod, Joyce Murray and Joy Smith.

Acting Members present: Greg Rickford for Tim Uppal and Peter Stoffer for Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marie Chia, Analyst ; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Janet Bax, Executive Director, Federal Healthcare Partnership Secretariat; Hilary Flett, Manager, Office of Health Human Resources, Federal Healthcare Partnership Secretariat. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Murray Brown, Staff Relations Representative, Occupational Health & Safety; Rich Boughen, Acting Director General, Occupational Health and Safety Branch. Department of National Defence: H.W. Jung, Director General of Health Services, Commander of the Canadian Forces Health Services Group, Surgeon General and Queens Honorary Physician. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Alain Tousignant, Acting Assistant Chief, Human Resources Officer and Chief Learning Officer. As an individual: Paulette Smith.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee commenced its study on Health Human Resources.

H.W. Jung, Janet Bax, Hilary Flett, Murray Brown and Alain Tousignant made statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
