The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met by videoconference at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Kelly Block, Paul Calandra, Patricia Davidson, Hon. Wayne Easter, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, Bill Siksay and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Earl Dreeshen for Kelly Block, Mario Laframboise for Carole Freeman and Alexandra Mendes for Hon. Wayne Easter.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Dara Lithwick, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Yellow Pages Group Co.: François D. Ramsay, Senior Vice-President, General Counsel, Secretary and Responsible for Privacy; Martin Aubut, Senior Manager, Social Commerce. Google Inc.: Jacob Glick, Canada Policy Counsel; Alma Whitten, Engineering Lead for Privacy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on Street Imaging Applications (Google, Canpages, etc.).
 

François D. Ramsay made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

Alma Whitten, by videoconference from London,United Kongdom, made a statement statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 5:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:19 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Paul Calandra, it was agreed, — That the Committee call on Serge Ménard, Bloc Québécois Member of Parliament for Marc-Aurèle-Fortin, to appear before the Committee to discuss his allegation that he was offered illegal cash while he was a provincial candidate.

 

At 5:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
