The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met, in camera, at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Scott Armstrong, Patrick Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Bonnie Crombie, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau, Blake Richards and Scott Simms.

 

Acting Members present: Rodger Cuzner for Scott Simms and Hon. Maria Minna for Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the emerging and digital media: opportunities and challenges.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of the draft report.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, the Committee call on representatives from CBC-SRC to testify on their mandate, budget priorities and strategic roadmap for delivering content and service to Canadians;

that the Committee call on the Minister of Canadian Heritage and departmental officials to testify on funding support for CBC-SRC;

that the Committee examine the significance of the 60 million to the Corporation's fulfillment of its mandate to Canadians; and

that the Committee hear from other relevant stakeholders on the future of CBC-SRC.

 

It was agreed, — That the Comittee invite Quebecor to submit a brief only on vertical integration.

 

At 4:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
