The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met by videoconference at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Scott Armstrong, Patrick Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Roger Pomerleau, Blake Richards, Pablo Rodriguez and Scott Simms.

 

Acting Members present: Scott Andrews for Bonnie Crombie, Monique Guay for Carole Lavallée and Luc Malo for Carole Lavallée.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Alain Beaudoin, Director General, Information and Communications Technologies branch. Department of Canadian Heritage: Jean-Pierre Blais, Assistant Deputy Minister, Cultural Affairs; Helen Kennedy, Deputy Director General, Broadcasting and Digital Communications Branch. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the emerging and digital media: opportunities and challenges.
 

Michael O'Hearn, Rebecca Ross and Jeannette Kopak made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Jean-Pierre Blais, Helen Kennedy, Alain Beaudoin and Pamela Miller made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
