The Legislative Committee on Bill C-32 met in a televised session at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Gordon Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Charlie Angus, Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Dean Del Mastro, Ed Fast, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Carole Lavallée, Hon. Dan McTeague and Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada: Paul Davidson, President; Steve Wills, Manager, Government Relations and Legal Affairs. Canadian Association of University Teachers: James L. Turk, Executive Director; Paul Jones, Policy and Education Officer. Campus Stores Canada: Chris Tabor, Director, Queen's University Bookstore. Canadian Association of Research Libraries: Ernie Ingles, President, Vice-Provost and Chief Librarian, University of Alberta; Brent Roe, Executive Director. Canadian Museums Association: Jon Tupper, President; John G. McAvity, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Federation of Students: David Molenhuis, National Chairperson; Noah Stewart, Communication and Policy Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Friday, November 5, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-32, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.
 

James L. Turk, Paul Davidson and Chris Tabor made statements and, with Steve Wills and Paul Jones, answered questions.

 

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Ernie Ingles, Jon Tupper and David Molenhuis made statements and, with Brent Roe, John G. McAvity and Noah Stewart, answered questions.

 

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
