The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room C-160, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Larry Bagnell, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Earl Dreeshen, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Anita Neville, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Todd Norman Russell, Bruce Stanton and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Marc Lemay and Richard Nadeau for Marc Lemay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Gauthier, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Government of British Columbia: Hon. Mary Polak, Minister, Ministry of Children and Family Development; Lesley Du Toi, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Children and Family Development. Native Child and Family Services of Toronto: Kenn Richard, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of First Nations Child and Family Services.
 

Hon. Mary Polak and Ken Richard made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:26 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:32 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That an hour be set aside for consideration of the Nutrition North Canada draft report at the meeting on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk ask the governments of Nunavut, Nunavik, the Northwest Territories and Labrador into which languages they translate documents for their Inuktitut-speaking population.

 

At 10:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
