The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met by videoconference at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room C-160, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Larry Bagnell, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Earl Dreeshen, Shelly Glover, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Anita Neville, Todd Norman Russell, Bruce Stanton and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Jim Abbott for Earl Dreeshen and Dave Van Kesteren for LaVar Payne.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Gauthier, Analyst; Danielle Lussier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Congress of Aboriginal Peoples: National Chief Betty Ann Lavallée. Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Jerome Berthelette, Assistant Auditor General; Ronnie Campbell, Assistant Auditor General. Office of the Auditor General of British Columbia: John Doyle, Auditor General; Morris Sydor, Assistant Auditor General.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of First Nations Child and Family Services.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:27 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Northern Territories Economic Development: Barriers and Solutions.
 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held following the presentation in the House of the report entitled Northerners' Perspectives for Prosperity.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
