The Subcommittee on Canadian Industrial Sectors of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met by videoconference at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, Dave Van Kesteren, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Robert Bouchard, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Glenn Thibeault and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Other Members present: Jacques Gourde, Richard M. Harris and Chris Warkentin.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Nathalie Pothier, Analyst; Terrence Thomas, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: New Brunswick Forest Products Association: Mark Arsenault, President and Chief Executive Officer. Association des propriétaires de machinerie forestière du Québec inc.: Éric Dionne, Member; Jacques Dionne, Member. Coast Forest Products Association: R.M. Jeffery, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Industy, Science and Technology on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the crisis faced by certain industrial sectors in Canada such as aerospace, energy, forestry, high-tech, and manufacturing.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:38 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:41 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee hear from representatives from the aerospace and energy industries during the week of April 23, 2009.

 

At 11:48 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:15 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Canadian Industrial Sectors present its final report to the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology no later than Friday, May 15, 2009.

 

At 12:16 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
