The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 1:12 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Hon. Irwin Cotler, Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Mario Silva, David Sweet and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Jean Dorion for Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee resume its study commenced in the Second Session of the 39th Parliament on human rights in Cuba.

 

It was agreed, — That the evidence and documents received by the Subcommittee in relation to its study on the human rights in Cuba during the Second Session of the 39th Parliament, be taken into consideration by the Subcommittee in the current session.

 

It was agreed, — That, whereas the all-party coalition to combat antisemitism has been conducting hearings into antisemitism;

Whereas the witness testimony and evidence of these hearings will be beneficial for the work of the House and beyond;

Whereas this Subcommittee may wish to conduct its own inquiry or at least benefit from this inquiry for our own work;

Be it resolved that this Subcommittee request from the appropriate authorities in the House that it provide the necessary assistance for the videconferencing, translation and transcription of the hearings such that this House and this Subcommittee will have the benefit of the evidentiary record before it.

 

At 2:06 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
