[Recorded by Electronic Apparatus]
[Translation]
Honourable members of the committee,
[English]
I see a quorum.
We can now proceed to the election of the chair, and I am ready to receive motions to that effect.
Mr. Silva.
Thank you.
It has been moved by Mr. Silva that Scott Reid be elected chair of the committee.
Are there any further motions?
Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
(Motion agreed to)
Ms. Bonnie Charron: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Reid duly elected chair of the committee.
Before inviting Mr. Reid to take the chair, we will now proceed to the election of vice-chairs.
I am prepared to receive motions for first vice-chair.
Mr. Sweet.
It has been moved by Mr. Sweet that Mr. Silva be elected as first vice-chair of the committee.
Are there any further motions?
Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
(Motion agreed to)
Ms. Bonnie Charron: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Silva duly elected first vice-chair of the committee.
I am now prepared to receive motions for second vice-chair.
Mr. Reid.
[Translation]
It is moved by Mr. Reid that Ms. Thi Lac be elected second vice-chair of the committee.
Are there any other nominations? Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
(Motion agreed to.)
Ms. Bonnie Charron: I declare the motion carried and Ms. Thi Lac duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
[English]
I now invite Mr. Reid to take the chair.
Well, that's a great relief. I was very worried about the all-candidates debate.
On a point of order, Mr. Marston.
I don't recall any of the persons nominated accepting the nomination. Perhaps for the record they should be asked if they will stand for those positions.
You're quite right.
I'll say that I do accept the nomination, and I will now confirm with Mr. Silva and Madam Thi Lac....
[Translation]
Ms. Thi Lac, do you accept your nomination?
[English]
It's an intervention. I wanted to say that generally the practice is that after the chair is elected we adjourn, but I want to ask for unanimous consent--I'll keep it narrow so that there's no concern--to deal with some of the specifics around the Iran report so that we can have some agreement after we leave here about what we're going to do. That report has been sitting, and I think the sooner we get that finished, the better.
So I ask the committee for unanimous consent to discuss the Iran report only and how we can move forward with that.
