The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:09 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, James Bezan, Hon. Hedy Fry, Larry Miller, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Joe Preston, Lee Richardson and Merv Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Maxime Bernier, Claude DeBellefeuille, Ed Fast and David Sweet.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services; Gilles Larocque, Senior Financial Advisor. Standing Committee on International Trade: Jean-Marie David, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights: Miriam Burke, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on National Defence: Paul Cardegna, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: Isabelle Duford, Clerk of the Committee . Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

At 1:09 p.m., Shawn Murphy took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted a travel budget of $97,450 to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia; Whitehorse, Yukon; Yellowknife Northwest Territories; Edmonton, Alberta and Winnipeg, Manitoba in relation to its study of the federal contribution to reducing poverty in Canada, in the Fall of 2009.

 

At 1:14 p.m., Dean Allison took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be granted a travel budget of $40,517 to travel to Toronto, Ontario in relation to its study on organized crime, in the Fall of 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $2,504 to travel to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec in relation to its study on the review of the new veterans charter, in the Fall of 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on National Defence be granted a travel budget of $106,299 to travel to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska, USA and Winnipeg, Manitoba in relation to its study of the arctic sovereignty, in the Fall of 2009.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by Larry Miller regarding a witness who submitted his expense claim to the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 

At 1:41 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
