The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Leon Benoit, France Bonsant, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Russ Hiebert, Devinder Shory, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger for Hon. Geoff Regan, Cheryl Gallant for Russ Hiebert, Pat Martin for Nathan Cullen and Glen Douglas Pearson for Hon. Navdeep Bains.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources.

 

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Serge Dupont, Associate Deputy Minister; Richard Tobin, Assistant Deputy Minister.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2009-2010: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 under NATURAL RESOURCES referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under NATURAL RESOURCES.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, the Committee commenced its study of the examination of the issues relevant to the Chalk River Nuclear Facility.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
