The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Kelly Block, Rodger Cuzner, Claude DeBellefeuille, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Guy Lauzon, Tom Lukiwski, Joe Preston, Marcel Proulx and Scott Reid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Bédard, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

That, pursuant to its order of reference of Thurday, January 29, 2009, the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2008-2009: Vote 5b (House of Commons) under PARLIAMENT be deemed studied by the Committee;

that the Vote carry unamended;

and that the Chair report same to the House.

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), the Committee invite the Chief Electoral Officer to appear before the Committee during the week of February 23, 2009 regarding his reports made pursuant to sections 534 and 535 of the Canada Elections Act.

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(v), the Committee undertake a study of the webcasting of the House and its committees.

Debate arose thereon.

 

It was agreed, — That the First Report of the Subcommittee be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(i), the Committee study security on the Hill;

and that, in relation to the study, the Sergeant-at-Arms be invited to appear in camera before the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, regarding the impact on security on the Parliamentary Precinct of a possible visit by the President of the United States of America and future visits by heads of state or other dignitaries.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee do now adjourn.

 

At 11:28 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
