The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 12:03 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Paul Calandra, Rodger Cuzner, Claude DeBellefeuille, Michel Guimond, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Guy Lauzon, Tom Lukiwski, Joe Preston, Marcel Proulx and Scott Reid.

 

Acting Members present: Libby Davies for Yvon Godin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Bédard, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, September 17, 2009, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

That the Committee invite the Chief Electoral Officer to appear before the Committee at the earliest opportunity to discuss election readiness, his report entitled: “Evaluations of the 40th General Election”, his draft regulations entitled: “Adapting the Canada Elections Act for the Purpose of a Referendum”, his report on recommended amendments to the Canada Elections Act which he expects to submit before the end of the year and any other election related issues; and

That the Committee invite the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner to appear before the Committee at the earliest opportunity to discuss her “2008-2009 Annual Report in respect of the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons”.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be adopted.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
