The Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:06 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Leon Benoit, Steven Blaney, Garry Breitkreuz, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Ed Fast, Peter Goldring, Andrew Kania, Derek Lee, Larry Miller, Hon. Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Committee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Deputy Principal Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament be granted an operational budget of $20,650 for its study on the Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Health be granted an operational budget of $111,700 for its study on health human resources.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Health be granted a travel budget of $86,745 to travel to Iqaluit and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, for informal meetings, round tables and site visits in relation to its study of health facilities in Nunavut, from May 24 to 26, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Accounts be granted a travel budget of $27,958 to travel to Edmonton, Alberta, to attend the Conference of the Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees in September 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $28,184 to travel to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, for a site visit to the Department of Veterans Affairs, in relation to its study of the comparison of veterans services offered by members of the Commonwealth and the G8, in May or June 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Food Safety of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted an operational budget of $102,800 for its study on food safety.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Finance be granted a travel budget of $29,821 to travel to Washington, District of Columbia, in relation to its study on measures to enhance credit availability and the stability of the Canadian financial systems, from June 3 to 5, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $92,214 to travel to Brasilia, Brazil, in relation to its study on Canada-South America trade relations, from June 8 to 12, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $58,085 to travel to Lima, Peru, in relation to its study on Canada-South America trade relations, from June 8 to 12, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $27,509 to travel to Washington, District of Columbia, in relation to its study on country of origin labelling, from June 3 to 5, 2009.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That unspent funds from project and travel budgets be returned to the global envelope 60 days after the completion of the study or trip.

 

At 2:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
