Meeting No. 2

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Josée Beaudin, Dona Cadman, Ron Cannan, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Ben Lobb, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage and Maurice Edgar Peter Vellacott.

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Dean Allison and Sukh Dhaliwal for Raymonde Folco.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst ; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the federal contribution to reducing poverty in Canada and that the evidence and documentation received by the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities during the 39th Parliament in relation to its study on this subject be taken into consideration by this Committee in this session.

It was agreed, — That departmental officials from the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development and from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation be invited to appear before the Committee on Thursday February 12, 2009 to discuss budgetary measures.

At 12:10 p.m., Yves Lessard took the Chair.

At 12:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
