The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Scott Andrews, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Blaine Calkins, Randy Kamp, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Dave Van Kesteren, John Weston and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Jack Harris for Peter Stoffer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Alliance des pêcheurs professionnels du Québec: Léonard Poirier, Secretary-Treasurer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the crisis in the fishing industry.
 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:55 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the Atlantic lobster fishery.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite representatives from the provincial governments of Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador to appear on the study of the crisis in the fishing industry.

 

At 12:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
