The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Hedy Fry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Nicole Demers, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Candice Hoeppner, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Dave Van Kesteren, Alice Wong and Lise Zarac.

 

Associate Members present: Rob Clarke.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Jean-François Nadeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada: Judy Cameron, Managing Director, Private Pension Plans Division. Canadian Labour Congress: Barbara Byers, Executive Vice-President; Joel Harden, National Representative, Social Economic Policy. Canadian Association of Retired Persons: Dan Braniff, Chair, Georgian Bay Chapters. Federal Superannuates National Association: Bernard Dussault, Senior Research and Communications Officer, National Office.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of women and pension security.
 

Judy Cameron, Barbara Byers and Dan Braniff made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hold of a sufficient number of hearings to accommodate the witnesses that have been proposed by the Committee on the study of women and pension security.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hold a round table on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, and invite all the alternate witnesses identified in the work plan related to their study on increasing the participation of women in non-traditional occupations to attend.

 

At 5:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
