The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 4:39 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Bob Dechert, Earl Dreeshen, Carole Freeman, Russ Hiebert, Pierre Poilievre, Bill Siksay, Michelle Simson, Paul Szabo and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Yvon Lévesque for Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alysia Davies, Analyst; Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Russ Hiebert, it was agreed, — That the Committee resume its study commenced in the Second Session of the 39th Parliament on the Privacy Act Reform.

 

On motion of Russ Hiebert, it was agreed, — That the evidence and documentation received by the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics during the Second Session of the 39th Parliament in relation to its study on the Privacy Act Reform be taken into consideration by the Committee in the current session.

 

The Chair presented the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

That the following working calendar be recommended to the Committee:

– Meeting of Wednesday, February 11 2009:

  • Study of Supplementary Estimates B
  • Motion by Carole Freeman
  • Briefing with Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel

– Subsequent meetings:

  • Meetings with the Information Commissioner, the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner and the Privacy Commissioner
 

It was agreed, — That the First Report of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, be adopted.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
