The Standing Committee on International Trade met in camera at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Hon. Scott Brison, Ron Cannan, John Cannis, Serge Cardin, Claude Guimond, Ed Holder, Peter Julian, Gerald Keddy, Lee Richardson and Mario Silva.

 

Acting Members present: Larry Miller for Richard M. Harris.

 

Associate Members present: Malcolm Allen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Holden, Analyst; Jennifer Paul, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: David Plunkett, Chief Trade Negotiator, Bilateral and Regional Relations; Jean-Benoit Leblanc, Director, Regional Trade Policy - Americas; Louis Poisson, Director, Latin America and the Caribbean Commercial Relations; Hilary Esmonde-White, Acting Deputy Director Brazil, Latin America and the Caribbean Commercial Relations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on Thursday March 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of Canada-South America Trade Relations (Canada-Brazil).
 

David Plunkett made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:41 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee conclude its study on Defence of Supply Management at the World Trade Organization.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
