The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Rod Bruinooge, Dean Del Mastro, Ruby Dhalla, Shelly Glover, Nina Grewal, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau, Pablo Rodriguez, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Scott Simms and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Mario Silva for Ruby Dhalla.

 

Associate Members present: Niki Ashton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Shelly Glover moved, — That the meeting continue in camera.

Debate arose thereon.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 2.

 

At 3:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 3:51 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Canadian Heritage Committee ask André Juneau, Chair of the National Battlefields Commission, to appear as soon as possible, for not more than one hour, before the Committee to explain the activities related to the commemoration of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, and more specifically the re-enactment of the battle.

 

It was agreed, — That, at the next meeting of the Committee, witnesses for the study on the recent elimination of Federal Government Funding Programs for Arts and Culture be selected.

 

At 4:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
