The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Roger Gaudet, Greg Kerr, Ben Lobb, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Robert Oliphant, Hon. Judy Sgro, Peter Stoffer and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: France Bonsant for Guy André, Siobhan Coady for Scott Andrews, Mark Holland for Scott Andrews and LaVar Payne for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Royal Canadian Legion: Wilf Edmond, Dominion President; Pierre Allard, Service Bureau Director, Dominion Command.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its review of the New Veterans Charter.
 

Wilf Edmond and Pierre Allard made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:47 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs include in its review of the New Veterans Charter a study to examine the possibility of extending services offered by pavilions to Canadian forces veterans, including peacekeepers, who have served since the Korean War, and produce a report with recommendations on how the federal government can extend benefits to all Canadian Forces Veterans and to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

 

At 10:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
