Meeting No. 15

Thursday, April 23, 2009

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 213, Wellington Building, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Hon. Larry Bagnell, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, John Duncan, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Todd Norman Russell and Bruce Stanton.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Ronnie Campbell, Assistant Auditor General; Frank Barrett, Principal.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the Committee commenced its study of the Report of the Auditor General.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 10:31 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:35 a.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet with the Treaty One First Nations on Thursday, May 7, 2009 regarding the report of the Auditor General for one hour, and that the second hour be devoted to Committee Business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 38,200 for the study of Northern economic development be adopted.

At 10:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
