The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Sue Barnes, Garry Breitkreuz, Bonnie Brown, Hon. Roy Cullen, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Dave MacKenzie, Colin Mayes, Serge Ménard, Rick Norlock and Penny Priddy.

 

Acting Members present: Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac for Maria Mourani and Dave Van Kesteren for Gord Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst. House of Commons: Jacques Lahaie, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Dave MacKenzie, it was agreed, — That Garry Breitkreuz be elected Chair of the Committee.

 

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Vice-Chairs.

 

On motion of Ujjal Dosanjh, it was agreed, — That Roy Cullen be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of Serge Ménard, it was agreed, — That Penny Priddy be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

Garry Breitkreuz took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed with the study of routine motions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, to adopt its routine motions and discuss its future business.

 

At 4:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
