MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 1

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

The Subcommittee on the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to the motion agreed to by the Committee on Thursday, November 22, 2007.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Chris Charlton, Gary Goodyear, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Pauline Picard and Scott Reid.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Bédard, Analyst.

The Clerk of the Subcommittee presided over the election of a Chair.

It was agreed, — That Scott Reid be elected Chair of the Subcommittee.

Scott Reid took the Chair.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(viii) and the motion agreed to by the Standing Committee on Thursday, November 22, 2007, the Subcommittee begin a study of Disclosure Forms under the Conflict of interest Code for Members of the House of Commons.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(viii), the motion agreed to by the Standing Committee on Thursday, November 22, 2007 and the motion agreed to by the Subcommittee on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, the Subcommittee commenced its study of Disclosure Forms under the Conflict of interest Code for Members of the House of Commons.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of Disclosure Forms under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, the Subcommittee meet on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and that the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, Mary Dawson, be invited to appear.

At 4:48 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
