The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:14 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Art Hanger, Hon. Diane Marleau, Rob Merrifield, Yasmin Ratansi, Paul Szabo and Mervin Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Garry Breitkreuz, Barry Devolin, Gary Goodyear, Fabian Manning, Bob Mills and Pauline Picard.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans: Julia Lockhart, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security: Roger Préfontaine, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development: Bonnie Charron, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security be granted a travel budget of $71,915 to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, for public hearings and site visits in relation to its Taser study, in April 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a travel budget of $174,216 to travel to St. John’s, Bay Roberts and Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador; St. Peter’s Bay, Prince Edward Island; Yarmouth, Nova Scotia; Bathurst, New Brunswick and Gaspé, Québec, for public hearings and site visits in relation to its study of small craft harbours, in April-May 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted a travel budget of $1,997 to travel to Toronto, Ontario, to attend the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards Gala on March 7, 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted an operational budget of $130,200 for its study of Bill C-30, An Act to establish the Specific Claims Tribunal and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the request for reimbursement presented by Yasmin Ratansi regarding a witness who submitted her expense claim to the Standing Committee on the Status of Women after the 60-day deadline be concurred in.

 

At 1:57 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
