The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Lui Temelkovski, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Lui Temelkovski, David Tilson and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Hon. Raymond Chan for Hon. Carolyn Bennett.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst ; Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development : Robert Eyahpaise, Director, Social Services and Justice Directorate, Community Development Branch; Andrew Lieff, Senior Advisor to the Deputy Minister; Fred Hill, Manager, Northern Food Security. Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission: Scott Hutton, Associate Executive Director, Broadcasting; Martine Vallee, Director, English Pay, Specialty and Social Policy. Advertising Standards Canada: Linda J. Nagel, President and Chief Executive Officer. Department of Finance: Sean Keenan, Senior Chief, Personal Income Tax Division, Tax Policy Branch; Sophie Amberg, Tax Policy Officer, Strategic Projects, Personal Income Tax Division, Tax Policy Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motions adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 and on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the government response to the Committee report Healthy Weights for Healthy Kids.

Robert Eyahpaise and Scott Hutton made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
