The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sukh Dhaliwal, Russ Hiebert, Carole Lavallée, Pat Martin, Richard Nadeau, Paul Szabo, David Tilson, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Rodger Cuzner for Hon. Charles Hubbard and Hon. Shawn Murphy for Glen Douglas Pearson.

 

Associate Members present: Bruce Stanton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Holmes, Analyst; Lydia Scratch, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: Jennifer Stoddart, Privacy Commissioner; Raymond D'Aoust, Assistant Privacy Commissioner; Elizabeth Denham, Assistant Privacy Commissioner of Canada; Patricia Kosseim, General Counsel; Tom Pulcine, Director General and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Services Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Vote 45 under JUSTICE referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
 

Jennifer Stoddart made a statement and, with Tom Pulcine and Elizabeth Denham, answered questions.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 22, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the Privacy Act Reform.
