The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sukh Dhaliwal, Russ Hiebert, Hon. Charles Hubbard, Carole Lavallée, Pat Martin, Glen Douglas Pearson, Paul Szabo, David Tilson, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Patricia Davidson for Dean Del Mastro, Jacques Gourde for Russ Hiebert, Serge Ménard for Richard Nadeau and Hon. Robert Thibault for Glen Douglas Pearson.

 

Other Members present: Thomas J. Mulcair and Brian Murphy.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst; Nancy Holmes, Analyst. House of Commons: Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel; Erica Pereira, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Stevie Cameron.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 22, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the Mulroney Airbus Settlement.
 

The witness, duly sworn in, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:53 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Chair write to Fred Doucet for an explanation about the discrepancy between the copies of his Lobbyist Registration dated October 10, 1989, and an invoice to Bitucan Holdings Ltd dated November 2, 1988 and payment dated November 15, 1988; and that, if the explanation is unsatisfactory, that he may be called back before the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee send a letter to the Commissioner of the RCMP requesting the tape of the interview with Giorgio Pelosi.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair write to Guy Pratte, lawyer for the Hon. Brian Mulroney, requesting the information in the Chair's letter dated January 16, 2008 for the information about Mr. Mulroney's international trips; who was there, who did he meet, the dates and other details; and order for the production of these documents; and that with regard to Mr. Mulroney's appearance on February 28, 2008, Mr Pratte affirm Mr. Mulroney's appearance and that should he not give that undertaking that Mr. Mulroney will be present, that a summons may be issued.

 

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
