The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met by teleconference at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 214 Wellington Building, the Chair, Bob Mills, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Hon. John Godfrey, Luc Harvey, David J. McGuinty, Bob Mills, Hon. Geoff Regan, Francis Scarpaleggia, Maurice Vellacott, Mark Warawa and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Guy André for Marcel Lussier and Thomas J. Mulcair for Nathan Cullen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sam Banks, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Richard Carignan, Full Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Montréal. Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association: Chera Jelley, Director, Policy. Conseil régional de l'environnement de la Montérégie: Richard Marois, President. COMGA (Gatineau River Watershed Committee): Giorgio Vecco, Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, February 13, 2008, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-469, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (use of phosphorus).
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

On motion of Bernard Bigras, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 97.1, the Committee requests an extension of thirty sitting days to consider Bill C-469, an Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (use of phosphorus).

 

It was agreed, — That Clause by Clause study of Bill C-469 be held when the House reconvenes from its summer recess.

 

At 5:13 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
